WORKSHOP INFO

Bring your ideas to life and print on paper, fabric, wood and more. Since 2006, thousands of participants have learned the process, possibilities and benefits of screenprinting (aka silkscreening or serigraphy) at Possible Worlds and through our collective Spins & Needles. We are frequently considered the leading educator in Ottawa-Gatineau for screenprinting education.

WHAT YOU'LL TAKE AWAY

In Screenprinting 101, learn the process of one-colour screenprinting (aka silkscreening) using the photo emulsion process.

REQUIRED MATERIALS

  • Your own materials to print on: paper, fabric (e.g. t-shirts, tote bags) or wood to print on

  • Your own artwork to print or select from our stock images.

  • All other materials will be provided

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Ideal for any level: beginners, those who want a refresher, those looking to put their artwork on t-shirts or in poster form, or creatives who would like to add a new skill to their current skill set.

WORKSHOP FACILITATOR

Facilitated by artist-educator-director Melanie Yugo of Spins & Needles and Possible Worlds, recognized for her 15+ years of screenprinting and art education in Ottawa-Gatineau and internationally.

WORKSHOP FEE

To make this workshop as accessible as possible and to increase opportunities for those who have historically been underrepresented in the arts, we're offering different options of participation fees. The amount you choose to pay goes to our facilitators and operating the space.

Option 1: $159 CAD

  • Access to the full in-person workshop

  • Use of a screen with your own artwork at the workshop (or select from our stock images)

  • List of where to purchase materials locally or online

  • Knowledge of how to set up your own temporary or permanent screenprinting space at home, studio, or other places

Option 2: $199 CAD

  • Access to the full in-person workshop.

  • A resusable Screenprinting Kit = squeegee + a blank screen or screen with your own artwork to take home and keep printing

  • Use of a screen with your own artwork (or select from our stock images)

  • List of where to purchase materials locally or online

  • Knowledge of how to set up your own temporary or permanent screenprinting space at home, studio, or other places.

Option 3: $139 CAD

We are offering a reduced rate for 1 spot per workshop to those who self-identify as Indigenous, Black, Asian or a person of colour; or as a person with disabilities; or as two-spirit, transgender or gender non-conforming.

  • List of where to purchase materials locally or online

  • Knowledge of how to set up your own temporary or permanent screenprinting space at home, studio, or other places

NEXT STEPS

  • After you register, you'll get an email confirming your payment and therefore your registration.

  • Look out for a second e-mail from us, approximately 5-10 days before the workshop, reminding you about the upcoming workshop + important preparation information (make sure to check your spam/junk folder). If you do not receive this second e-mail, don't hesitate to e-mail us indicating so.

The use of a medical mask is strongly encouraged. Arts Court is a mask-friendly environment, and we ask everyone to respect each other’s decisions, comfort levels, and health needs.

ACCESSIBILITY

Possible Worlds is located on the main floor (one story above ground) of the Arts Court building. Wheelchair accessible entrances are located at at 67 Nicholas Street via SAW and 10 Daly Avenue via the Ottawa Art Gallery. The nearest elevator is located 30 metres from the 67 Nicholas Street entrance. All doors have accessibility buttons to press for automatic entry. Spots are non-refundable. By purchasing a spot or having someone purchase a spot for you, you also agree to our terms of service and cancellation policy.

Please note – You must be 18 years or older to take part in a workshop. If you wish to enroll someone under 18 years old please contact our studio to discuss.
