SILKSCREENING 201 WORKSHOP: INTRODUCTORY + INTERMEDIATE LEVELS

Our Spins & Needles Silkscreening 201 workshop introduces you to the processes and possibilities of silkscreening taught in our Silkscreening 101 workshop, and continues into more advanced silkscreening techniques in the second session.  This is a two session workshop. No prior experience is needed. 

LENGTH: 2 sessions, 4 hours each (with 30 minute break) 
DATES: Tuesdays or Thursday evenings from 6:30-10:30 PM, select from the drop down list below
COST: $259 (all materials included) 
LOCATION: Possible Worlds (708G Somerset St. W., Chinatown, Ottawa) 
WHAT YOU'LL TAKE AWAY: > Knowledge to build your own screen > Basics of designing art for one-colour and multiple-colour prints > Registration > Differences in inks, printing substrates, screen mesh and film work > Colour mixing > Reusing your screens > Printing techniques > Small art prints or prints on fabric items you've brought with you > How to set up a print area at home or a studio > Checklist of materials and where to buy them

Facilitated by artist-creative director Melanie Yugo of Spins & Needles and Possible Worlds (melanieyugo.com). Melanie has led classes and workshops on silkscreening and other graphic arts at Algonquin College, Ottawa Art Gallery, National Gallery of Canada, as well as for festivals and institutions in the U.S., U.K. and Europe.
 
Spaces are limited per workshop (up to 4 participants) to ensure you personally get the technique right. 

SILKSCREENING STARTER SET: Take your screen with your own image (designed in advance of the workshop) for an additional $25 or a professional grade squeegee for $15. Buy both for $35.

Approximately 10 days before the workshop, be sure to look out for an e-mail from us reminding you about the upcoming workshop as well as important workshop preparation information (make sure to check your spam/junk folder). If you do not receive this second e-mail, don't hesitate to e-mail us indicating so.
