Come through CUAG for a printing pizza party! Against the backdrop of the current CUAG show, Open Edition, we'll spend a laid-back evening eating pizza and making pages for a collaboratively-produced zine. We'll then print the pages using our Risograph machine, a stencil duplicator which outputs prints that have a silkscreened aeshetic and can be used to produce artwork such as zines, posters, album covers, artist books and more.
Inspired by Open Edition's theme of looking back and looking forward, participants will be asked to explore ideas of the past, the present, and the future.
All materials, two slices of pizza and can of pop are included in the price. Each person will receive one copy of the zine for pick up at Possible Worlds. This printing pizza party is open to all creative levels.
Part of PW's mobile print studio taking place in different public spaces around the city. In addition to a printing pizza party, look out for our first Risograph 101 Workshop and a publishing summer camp.
FACILITATOR: Melanie Yugo, print artist and co-director of Spins & Needles and Possible Worlds (melanieyugo.com), whose Risograph and silkscreening work is part of Open Edition. Melanie has developed programming and led workshops on graphic art, most notably silkscreening, at Algonquin College, Ottawa Art Gallery, National Gallery of Canada, as well as across Canada, and internationally. She has researched and written on the resurgence of the Risograph machine for various publications, curated shows featuring Risograph work through the series Prints & Inks, and has interviewed and visited the studios of many leading Risograph printers around the world.
